Martyrs Resting Place

Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam's (TGTE) statement on Martyr's Day

NEW YORK, USA, November 30, 2017 / —

Today is Martyrs’ Day, a day to celebrate the great sons and daughters of our nation. Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE).

A day for the Tamil people all over the world to remember with affection the valiant heroes who fought for the liberation of our nation and people and fell down as seeds.

A great day of the Great Heroes of the nation of Tamil Eelam who asserted themselves as a synonym of sacrifice and sowed the seeds of new hope for the oppressed peoples around the globe.

The Martyrs were the protective bulwark of our nation. A symbol of the people’s thirst for freedom.
They lived their lives as pioneers of a new society they intended to build, and acted as national architects raising on the soil of the Homeland a society where equitable social justice prevails.

The Martyrs and their Abodes of Final Rest are monuments of equality. The Martyrs’ Day is the occasion for our people to hold in equal esteem and pray in the temple of their hearts all the Martyrs who laid down their dear lives for the emancipation of our beloved motherland.

The Martyrs’ Day is a day on which our nation glorifies as issues of one mother all our children who fell for the cause of national emancipation, as equals without any discrimination as to whether senior or new-comer, male or female, or old or young.

The TGTE joins the Tamil people all over the world on this, the Martyrs’ Day, in saluting, and paying our heroic homage to, our Martyrs, the Great Heroes!

Dear People!

The Martyrs sacrificed their invaluable lives for realizing the political objective of forming a separate sovereign and independent state of Tamil Eelam on the territory of the Homeland of Tamils.

They took up arms, convinced, through historical experience, that the ushering in of an independent state of Tamil Eelam is the only political arrangement for the Tamil people to lead a free, equitable and secure life protecting them from genocide by the Sinhala state.

Our martyrs whom we hail as Great Heroes were out and out national fighters, never racists. They always fought for the emancipation of our people and the retrieval of our Homeland, never for occupying other nations. They always fought for protecting our people from genocide, and as such our martyrs’ struggle against the crime of genocide is most progressive and can even be a beacon light for the freedom of the peoples of the world.

Thanks to the protracted struggle waged by our Great Heroes, our Nation grew conscious of its character and set out harnessing itself into a strong nation. It is due to the sacrifice of the martyrs that, even though our land is small, our Nation has attracted the attention of the whole world. But for our martyrs’ unflinching struggle tempered with supreme sacrifice the Tamil people’s national problem would not have drawn to itself the attention of the international community.

The project genocide launched by the Sinhalese in the 1950s had hit a snag due to the struggle of our Martyrs. Without their heroic campaign the Sinhalese would by now have made rapid advances in their project genocide. This can be discerned from the project structural genocide deliberately being undertaken by the Sinhalese since May 2009.

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE)drew up its policy with the object of realizing the Martyrs’ dream. When we launched the TGTE in the year 2010 we had the Martyrs at heart. Thence unto this day the TGTE has been taking measures on the international arena for the establishment of an independent state of Tamil Eelam. The TGTE has proved itself unique in its approach of adopting transparent measures of political and diplomatic struggle by democratic means.

Political and diplomatic means are interlinked with each other. The strength we build up by political means would open up more opportunities for our diplomatic moves. As we grow stronger and stronger we would become a force to reckon with in the international balance of power. Although at present we are not as powerful as when the armed struggle was on and we had our de facto state, even now we remain a strategically important people capable of gaining strength based on soft power. Our homeland still retains its strategic weight.

The international powers base their international decisions on their own interests. As our National Leader once said, the international order does not run on wheels of moral ethics, but turn on interests. We can now clearly see how prophetic his words have turned out to be.

The international big powers concerned with the island of Sri Lanka have not taken the stance of expressing support for the oppressed people of Tamil Eelam being subjected to genocide. On the contrary they are more anxious about bringing forth a government favorable to, and defending, their interests. Their approach is to handle the internal situation accordingly.

In this context we can see two kinds of attitudes in Eelam Tamil politics towards handling the international powers. One is to wait for a benevolent glance from the international powers; to accept without protest the standpoints of the international powers and beg for a little kind consideration. Such leaders as represent this attitude do not put sufficient pressure on the international powers from the viewpoint of a strategically important people.

So, these powers, which are liberal in praising these leaders in words, simply ignore them when it comes to deeds. But our leaders of this attitude would console themselves and the people saying, “We are speaking to the international powers, we will soon see good progress, we can do nothing by antagonizing the international powers,” etc.

Those who represent the second attitude reject outright the international powers not accepting their standpoints and isolate and alienate themselves from the international stage. They severely denounce the international powers for their actions contrary to the interests of the Tamil people and tend to see them as ‘international conspiracy’. They find not much use in developing contacts and working with the international powers and are not sufficiently interested in international political and diplomatic moves.
We are of the considered view that these two attitudes are not conducive to correctly handle the international community. Hence the TGTE considers it necessary to adopt a third new attitude other than the above-mentioned two and is taking steps towards that end.

We do not repudiate the role of international politics and geopolitics and that of the international powers in the struggle of the Tamil Eelam people for the right to self-determination. On the contrary, we very well understand their importance and think of ways how to turn them in our favor. So we do not reject the international powers. At the same time we refuse to accept Tamil leaders acting as handmaids of international powers or endorsing the decisions of the international powers without protest, even when they go against the interests of the people of Tamil Eelam.

A case in point is our approach towards the decision of the United Nations Human Rights Council in 2015 to entrust the Government of Sri Lanka with the transitional justice mechanism. This was a step in the interests of the international powers, but against those of the Tamil people. One section of the Tamil political leadership accepted it without protest, while the other section rejected it outright and strongly condemned it.

The TGTE criticized the UNHRC decision on proper grounds and appointed a watchdog committee by the name MAP (Sri Lanka Monitoring and Accountability Panel) consisting of international experts. This panel is working as monitor at the international level on the basis of the UN Report. We have hereby taken a step forward in preparing the ground for us to approach the international arena from our standpoint. It can be well discerned how the international powers in the UNHRC are closely taking cognizance of the activities of the monitoring panel appointed by us.

Dear friends!

The Sinhalese hope of drowning to end the Tamil people’s struggle for national liberation at Mullivaaikkaal has turned out to be a pipedream. The Sinhalese efforts at showing the island of Sri Lanka to be a nation and its inhabitants to be a people and burying the Tamil and Muslim peoples in the Sinhala majority has not succeeded thus far. Yet the Sinhalese would not give up. Like the mythical Vikramadhithya of our childhood stories the Sinhalese are again and again pursuing the same by various tricks.

The recent initiative for enacting a new constitution is just the latest venture to assert Sinhalese hegemony over the Tamil and Muslim peoples. The Sinhalese leaders with the help of the international powers have put up a show of the new constitution being adopted with the main purpose of solving the Tamil national question. A few Tamil leaders have also abetted this farce.

The Sinhalese leaders set up things to drag on time to their advantage and the Tamil leaders made much ado and trumpeted that a federation though not called by that name was coming. But the interim report and the other indications available thus far only point to a scenario of the new constitution only tending to further strengthen the Sinhalese-Buddhist supremacy. In the opinion of some analysts, the Sinhalese leaders would, after buying the time they need, abandon the initiative for a new constitution.

It is however our considered view that only when our status as a nation is recognized can a political solution be found for the Tamil people. The TGTE opines that the efforts towards a political solution should be based on the recognition of the people of Tamil Eelam as being entitled to the right to self-determination and seeking remedial justice for being subjected to genocide.

In this regard, any political solution for the Tamil people should be arrived at only after obtaining a mandate from the Tamil Eelam nation through a special referendum in the homeland of Eelam Tamils as well as among the diaspora Tamils. The TGTE calls for such a referendum.

It is our standpoint that any referendum for the whole country without recognizing the Tamil people as a nation or as being entitled to the right to self-determination will never be accepted by the Tamil people as part of an effort to find a political solution.

We have already announced a campaign called YES TO REFERENDUM with regard to the referendum to be conducted among the Tamil people. This campaign is to be launched as a people’s movement in January 2018. Details of this campaign will soon be made public. Meanwhile, it is learnt that a group believed to be connected with the Sri Lankan government has forged a statement in my name that the TGTE would be dissolved in January 2018. It is our firm belief that such false statements would by no means confuse our people.
Dear People!

As we memorialize our martyrs, it is necessary that we keep in mind their political dreams. Our act of memorializing the martyrs should not be reduced to a ritual of our culture.
Every lamp that we lit in memory of our martyrs, and every flower we place at their feet should give us the determination to move forward.

The martyrs’ families who gave unto the homeland their sons or daughters, husbands or wives, their dear ones deserve our nation’s respect. Many of them, we are aware, are in despair whether the sacrifice of their dear ones would be in vain.

It gives us a lot of encouragement and great joy that people are enthusiastically taking part in the Martyrs Day events in the Homeland areas defaced by Sinhalese occupation. At the same time we plead with the political leaders observing the remembrance of the martyrs to advance the politics that seeks to bear in heart the dreams of the martyrs.

The hope should be deep in us that the sacrifices of our martyrs would never be in vain. Masses united are a great force. We must act with a staunch hope and belief that our activities would bring justice to our martyrs and our people killed in genocide by the Sinhalese.
Let us take a pledge on the Martyrs Day that we will unite as world Tamils, assimilate into us the dreams and sacrifices of the martyrs and work tirelessly to realize their ideals.

Zerotie, the World’s First Hands Free™ Self-lacing Shoes, exhibiting at DC Metro Abilities Expo

Zerotie Rocky Run in White

We are so happy to be able to provide these terrific shoes to people of all ages with special needs”

— Forrest Brown, VP Sales for Zerotie

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, November 30, 2017 / — Zerotie, hands freeTM self-lacing shoes will be exhibiting at the DC Metro Abilities Expo at the Dulles Expo Center from December 1st through 3rd, 2017. Zerotie will be onsite at booth 619, to showcase its new line of Men’s, Women’s and Kid’s Fall 2017 collections.

Zerotie is a unique shoe, in that it combines technology with footwear. The patented Zerotie system eliminates the need to bend down to tie and untie your shoes. With Zerotie shoes, there is no button to press or strap to pull. It’s simple and easy to use. To wear the shoe, you simply place your foot in the shoe, draw your foot back to activate the “tying” mechanism and you’re ready to go. Loosening the laces is just as easy. All you have to do is effortlessly press down on the small lever on the back of the shoe with your foot and you step right out. The shoes are absolutely hands free. Once you take them out of the box, you’ll never need to touch them with your hands again.

Zerotie ( has been participating in the Abilities Expo since the brands launch earlier this year. In October of 2017, Zerotie debuted its Kids line at the San Mateo Abilities Expo. “Now that we have the full product line, we are so happy to be able to provide these terrific shoes to people of all ages with special needs,” states Forrest Brown, Vice President of Sales for the brand. “We received such a warm welcome while attending the Abilities Expos in Houston, Boston, San Mateo and everywhere we have been in between and since.”

“We have developed a true quality of life product…our technology works great for people who need to tighten and loosen their shoes frequently, and those who take their shoes on and off many times a day – as well as health care professionals, home services workers, the elderly and disabled, and people with special needs," states Evan Cagner, C.E.O. of Synclaire Brands. “This shoe presents a tremendous benefit to so many different types of consumers.”

“I have been traveling through different parts of the US all throughout 2017 to promote Zerotie,” states Brown. “I have witnessed first-hand how excited people are about these shoes. The feedback has been both phenomenal and humbling. So many people we met told us how much they really need a product like this because it will literally change their daily lives.”

When exhibiting at the DC Metro Expo, the brand is hoping to get the same reaction. “This type of footwear is such a game-changer – plus we offer a great combination of style and functionality.” states Brown.

Zerotie was invented by Greg Johnson, after watching his mother struggle with bending down to tie her shoes due to her severe arthritis. After perfecting the design and technology, he connected with Victoria Staten, Zerotie’s Brand Manager. Ms. Staten spent many years of her career in the shoe business and now consumers all over the country will finally have an opportunity to wear these life changing shoes. “While the idea came from someone who couldn’t physically tie their shoes, we realized we were on to something when we tested it with kids who said they wore them every day and didn’t want to give them back!” states Staten.

The Fall 2017 collection will include Men’s, Women’s and Children’s, starting at a price point of $125USD for Adults and $70USD for Children’s. Zerotie are available now, online at as well as select Independent Comfort, Sporting Goods, General Outdoor, Tech Fashion and Children’s retailers nationwide. During the DC Metro Expo, Zerotie is being sold in Booth 619 at the Dulles Expo Center, 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly, VA 20151.

Gov. Cuomo Ignores Hundreds of Complaints from Leading Advocate of Cover-Ups of Sexual Assaults & Rapes

Enough is Enough Governor Cuomo of bypassing 911 for the disabled

Gov. Andrew Cuomo followed in the same footsteps & mistakes of Penn State & Catholic Church leaders, choosing to look the other way to protect sexual predators

Governor Cuomo must be arrested and prosecuted for his long term involvement in the most heinous criminal conspiracy to protect sexual predators within his agencies in New York State’s history.”

— Michael Carey – Advocate for people with disabilities and their families

ALBANY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, November 30, 2017 / — You would think Governor Cuomo, other leaders and institutions would have learned from the horrific atrocities and grave mistakes from two largest sex scandals of all time. When anyone or any institution looks the other way and does not take immediate actions to stop and arrest sexual predators, pedophiles and rapists, these very sick people continue to assault, violate, traumatize and rape many other vulnerable victims.

Complaints were made to Penn State officials about one convicted sexual predator, Jerry Sandusky, they were ignored, and Sandusky continued to violate other young men . Instead of Penn State leaders stopping Jerry Sandusky and ensuring his immediate arrest, they protected him. Penn State will be forever remembered for these shameful acts of protecting just one sexual predator . Penn State leaders were convicted for their crimes. Penn State has paid out massive restitution to the victims of the sexual abuse by Jerry Sandusky.

Complaints after complaints went into Catholic Church leaders, Bishops and Cardinals, regarding many hundreds of pedophile priests being shuffled around from parish to parish These pedophile priests continued to do what they are compelled to do which was to rape and sodomize vulnerable little boys and girls and . The Catholic Church and many of their leaders could have done what was right from the beginning, but they chose to hide these disgusting, sinful and criminal acts and chose to protect the pedophile priests instead of the children . The end results is believed to be the greatest public shame and disgrace of all time, also resulting in billions of dollars in payouts to the sexual assault victims.

Fast forward to right now, hundreds of complaints have been made by Michael Carey of the cover-ups of most sexual assault and rapes and many other crimes against people with disabilities and mental health problems within Governor Cuomo's agencies, they all have gone ignored. The next greatest sex scandal unfolding which is almost identical to the Catholic Church sex scandal, surrounds Governor Cuomo and the horrific sex crimes of countless children and adults with disabilities and cover-ups of most of them. You can literally say what was done within the Catholic Church is mirrored within the New York State mental health care system. Here is just one of the thousands of sexual assault and pedophile stories that surfaced only because this pedophile was caught in a federal porn sting.

Remember this statement made by a convicted pedophile of Cuomo’s system, let it be burned within your heart and mind, it is “a predators dream.”

Here is the direct quote from this AP News story written by David Klepper;

“New York State is paying $3 million to the family of developmentally disabled boy repeatedly molested by a staffer at a state-run group home who later wrote that lax supervision at the facility made it "a predator's dream."

Another very powerful example again of thousands of sexual assaults or rapes within New York State’s mental health care system;

In March of 2011 the first of a massive series of investigative reports done by the New York Times came out regarding New York’s extremely dangerous and deadly mental health care system . Michael Carey convinced the New York Times to do this massive award winning series which was a runner up for a Pulitzer Prize . The person mentioned in this first piece regarding sexual abuse, is Rick Sousie and this is what is quoted in the Times;

“Five years ago, Mr. Sousie, then 47, was working at the home in Hudson Falls, about 50 miles north of Albany. After a co-worker saw him alone and standing between the legs of the severely disabled woman, who was lying on her back, the police were alerted. The victim was taken to the hospital, where a rape kit was administered, and Mr. Sousie was placed on administrative leave.”

Some paragraphs later, his disturbing defense claim, “Mr. Sousie, in an interview, denied that he had been involved in a sexual assault.”

“I was tucking in my shirt, and I got accused of raping a client, that’s what happened,“ he said. When it was pointed out that his lawyer had, as a defense, argued that Mr. Sousie had been masturbating — hence the presence of physical evidence — he conceded, “That’s the defense that we used, yes,” but declined to elaborate.

"Attorney General Cuomo and now Governor Cuomo have done everything possible to try to protect this sex cover-up scandal with a vengeance for over a decade . State data, as well as this well known study found on the State of Massachusetts website titled, Prevalence of Violence, point to possibly one third of developmentally disabled residents within Governor Cuomo’s OPWDD system being sexually assaulted annually. In the OPWDD system of 126,000 developmentally disabled children and adults, many of whom cannot speak to tell anyone anything, there are upwards of 43,000 victims of sexual assaults or rape every year. Try to wrap your mind around the scope of what I am bringing to your attention and the fact that Governor Cuomo is protecting, not stopping this evil.” – Michael Carey

Michael Carey, a leading advocate for people with disabilities and their families has submitted literally hundreds of written complaints to Attorney General Cuomo and Governor Cuomo over the course of many years. Both Attorney General Cuomo and Governor Cuomo chose to do what Penn State and Catholic Church leaders did, allowing God only knows how many sexual predators, pedophiles and rapists to continue to violate and severely harm girls and boys as well as adults with disabilities . To date, nothing significant has been done to stop and ensure the immediate arrests and convictions of these sexual predators.

The New York Times blasted Governor Cuomo for not taking dramatic actions to stop and prevent these abuses and many other forms of abuse or deaths within New York State’s extremely dangerous system. Governor Cuomo ignored all of Michael Carey’s calls for actions to stop these crimes and the New York Times Editorial Boards call for reforms. Over four years ago, the New York Times Editorial Board came out strong chastising Governor Cuomo for doing nothing to stop these horrors as documented.;

“Two-and-a-half years ago, The Times reported horrifying abuse of people with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses by state employees, who were rarely punished for it. Gov. Andrew Cuomo promised action. But too little appears to have changed.”

“There is much the governor could do. He could require surveillance cameras in these facilities, just as prisons have them. He could make sure that the police get more involved.”

The Editorial Board made these public statements because Governor Cuomo took no significant actions to stop the wide-scale abuse and cover-ups. Governor Cuomo ignored the massive New York Times “Abused and Used” investigative reporting series which was a runner up for a Pulitzer Prize

Governor Cuomo must be arrested and prosecuted for his long term involvement in the most heinous criminal conspiracy to protect sexual predators within his agencies in New York State’s history.

No longer can 911 call systems, local police and local courts be bypassed. 911 call systems must be immediately called by all mandated reporters regarding all sexual assaults and rapes, as well as obviously all other assault crimes, medical emergencies and deaths. Currently, under Governor Cuomo’s directive, almost all sex assault and rapes of people with disabilities which are obviously crimes disappear internally, they are covered-up. This evil and these gross injustices must be stopped and the people involved in the greater crimes and criminal conspiracy to protect sexual predators, pedophiles and rapists must be held accountable.

Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center Urges a Diagnosed Person in Kentucky to Call Them for Very Honest Advice about Hiring the Nation's Most Skilled Lawyers for Better Financial Compensation Settlement Outcome

We are urging a person with mesothelioma in Kentucky to call us to ensure they are talking directly to full time mesothelioma attorneys who get the best compensation results for their clients”

— Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, USA, November 30, 2017 / — The Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center is urging a person in Kentucky who has been recently diagnosed with mesothelioma or their family to call them anytime at 800-714-0303 for very honest advice about making certain they hire one of the nation’s most skilled mesothelioma attorneys for their financial compensation claim. As the group would like to discuss, “There is a direct relationship between receiving the very best possible mesothelioma compensation settlement for a diagnosed person in Kentucky and being represented by one of the nation’s most skilled and experienced mesothelioma lawyers.” http://Kentucky.MesotheliomaVictimsCenter.Com

The Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center says, “The reason we are extremely passionate about making certain a person with mesothelioma in Kentucky or their family are talking to some of the nation’s most capable mesothelioma attorneys is if they hire an inexperienced, or unqualified law firm or lawyer chances are their financial settlement result will not be that great. We are talking about potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost compensation-that the diagnosed person or their family will never see. We also want to emphasize we do not want a diagnosed person with mesothelioma in Kentucky to get overcharged by their law firm.

“If a diagnosed person with mesothelioma in Kentucky hires a law firm to help with their mesothelioma compensation claim and they then want to fire the law firm, or upgrade to much better attorneys—it is next to impossible to do as we would like to explain anytime at 800-714-0303. This is just one more reason we are urging a diagnosed person with mesothelioma in Kentucky or their family to call us to ensure they are talking directly to full time mesothelioma attorneys who consistently get the best financial compensation results for their clients on a nationwide basis. Please don't allow yourself to settle for anything less.” http://Kentucky.MesotheliomaVictimsCenter.Com

The Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center wants to emphasize their statewide initiative is available to any diagnosed victim in Kentucky including communities such as Lexington, Meads, Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, Owensboro, or Covington, Kentucky. http://Kentucky.MesotheliomaVictimsCenter.Com

For the best possible mesothelioma treatment options in Kentucky the Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center strongly recommends the following two heath care facilities with the offer to help a diagnosed victim, or their family get to the right physicians at each hospital:

* The University of Louisville Health Sciences Center:
* The University of Kentucky’s Markey Center in Lexington:

The average age for a diagnosed victim of mesothelioma is 72 years old. This year between 2500, and 3000 US citizens will be diagnosed with mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is attributable to exposure to asbestos. High risk work groups for exposure to asbestos in Kentucky include Veterans of the US Navy, power plant workers, oil refinery workers, factory workers, plumbers, electricians, miners, auto mechanics, machinists, and construction workers.

The states indicated with the highest incidence of mesothelioma include Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Louisiana, Washington, and Oregon. However, based on the calls the Mesothelioma Victims Center receives a diagnosed victim of mesothelioma could live in any state including Kentucky.

The Kentucky Mesothelioma Victims Center says, “If you call us at 800-714-0303, we will see to it that you have instant access to the nation’s most skilled mesothelioma attorneys, who consistently get the best possible financial compensation results for their clients in Kentucky. http://Kentucky.MesotheliomaVictimsCenter.Com

Large oil on canvas maritime seascape by Wesley Elbridge Webber ($9,375).

Figural bronze sculpture of a woman by Mexican muralist Francisco Zuniga ($4,062).

Oil on canvas laid on Masonite by Mexican artist Manuel Herrera Cartalla ($2,812).

An oil on canvas landscape by Scottish-born abstract modernist William Gear and a large oil on canvas maritime seascape by Wesley Elbridge Webber led the sale.

The auction was a great way to end the Thanksgiving weekend. It was interesting to see such heightened international interest in the William Gear landscape and the pair of James Rizzi lithographs.”

— Kevin Bruneau

CRANSTON, R.I., UNITED STATES, November 29, 2017 / — CRANSTON, R.I. – An oil on canvas landscape painting by the Scottish-born abstract modernist William Gear (1915-1997), titled Paysage, Mai 50 (May Landscape, 1950), sold for $11,875, and a large oil on canvas maritime seascape work of a brigantine ship at sea by Wesley Elbridge Webber (Am., 1841-1914) brought $9,375 at Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers’ November 25th sale.

The 436-lot Estate, Antiques, Fine & Decorative Art Auction was held in Bruneau & Co.’s gallery, located at 63 Fourth Avenue in Cranston, plus online via,, and About 210 people attended the sale in person, while another 11,487 registered to bid online. Phone and absentee bids were also taken.

As expected, the William Gear painting was the auction’s top lot, finishing at the top of of an eclectic mix of merchandise that featured period furniture, fine art, sculptures, modern design, art pottery, Waterford crystal, Baccarat chandeliers, fine Oriental rugs and carpets, and other rare, unusual items from across New England. In the end, the sale grossed a rather robust $187,285.

The Gear painting depicted an amalgamation of abstracted naturalistic forms in an earthly palette over a gray background, and was housed in a 33 inch by 26 ½ inch frame. The work was signed and dated in the lower right corner (and verso) and had a compelling back story and provenance.

In 1950, the same year Gear painted Paysage, Mai 50, he left Paris, where he’d been living, for New York, to take part in a joint exhibition with his esteemed contemporary, Jackson Pollock. It would be Gear’s one and only American exhibition. While in the States, Gear met the woman who would be his future wife – Deborah Chertok – and he gifted this very painting to her sister.

The maritime seascape painting by Wesley Elbridge Webber was indeed large, at 50 inches by 80 inches (framed). It depicted a brigantine vessel at sea, with the bow facing the foreground and a cutter vessel trailing behind, with two steam-powered vessels in the background. The painting, signed by Webber, also showed two figures in administrative uniform, and a buoy in the water.

“The auction was a great way to end the Thanksgiving weekend,” said Bruneau & Co. President Kevin Bruneau. “It was interesting to see such heightened international interest in the William Gear landscape and the pair of James Rizzi lithographs while being offered in the United States.”

He was referring to the two cut-out, three-dimensional lithograph assemblages by the noted pop artist James Rizzi (N.Y., 1950-2011). One, titled Sidewalk Café (1987), depicted a bustling city with a café in the foreground ($4,062). The other, titled Fall (1988), showed city dwellers in a park, observing the turning foliage ($2,500). Both lithos were artist-signed, titled and numbered.

Two artworks by Mexican muralists found their way into the list of top lots. One was a figural bronze sculpture of a woman by Francisco Zuniga (1912-1998), 23 ¼ inches tall on a beveled black marble plinth ($4,062). The woman was depicted as pregnant and barefoot, dressed in a rebozo and long skirt. The work was signed (“Zuniga”), dated (“1972”) and editioned (4 of 10).

The other was an oil on canvas laid on Masonite by Manuel Herrera Cartalla (1915-1977). The painting depicted a fiddler and his son, despondently seated and barefoot on a grey blanket, each with blank, emotionless expressions ($2,812). The signed work measured 21 ½ inches by 27 inches, framed. Cartalla was a contemporary of the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera (1886-1957).

“This auction truly exemplified the shift in antique and fine art collectors and what they collect today,” said Travis Landry, a Bruneau & Co. specialist and auctioneer. “The Francisco Zuniga sculpture and the Manuel Herrera Cartalla painting received an astounding amount of attention from onlookers in the gallery, just as if they were the two Wesley Webbers from 20 years ago.”

Two very different lots each posted an identical selling price of $2,375. One was a large, 19th century Japanese Meiji period gilt wood folding screen, consisting of six panels decorated with a rickshaw holding a twin-handled squat vessel with chrysanthemum and wisteria. Each panel measured 24 inches wide by 84 inches tall – an impressive sight at 12 feet wide when opened.

The other was an American-made, circa-1969 Schwinn Stingray Pea Picker bicycle from the Krate series, introduced in 1968. The bike featured a five-speed center Stik-shift with spring suspension fork, a spring cushion saddle seat and enhanced braking and handling (compared to the non-Krate series, standard Stingray model). The bicycle appeared to be an original survivor.

A large oil and acrylic on canvas abstract painting by the Dominican modernist Candido Bido (1936-2011), titled El Drama, signed and dated (1991), realized $2,000. The work depicted two opposing female busts staggered in height, with an abstract form bird in the foreground. The painting was executed in Dido’s iconic blazing yellow, turquoise blue and fiery orange palette.

Rounding out just some of the sale’s highlights, an American 19th century primitive folk art step-back pine hutch, consisting of a cabinet and two-drawer low section with a beveled door front supporting a multi-tier shelving unit, breezed to $1,875. The 77 ½ inch tall by 76 inch wide hutch was finished in black over red stain and was in overall good shape, with just minor wear.

Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers will hold a live-only (no online bidding) DiscoverIt Estates Auction on Monday, December 11th, and a live-only comic and toy auction on Monday, December 18th. Frank Dinucci Prepares To Help Small Businesses By Raffling Off Free Accounting Class

I want to gather money for a great cause, but also help a company in need of assistance," says Dinucci. "No better way than a raffle.”

— Frank Dinucci

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, November 29, 2017 / — Entrepreneurs and small business owners are popping up all over Chicago. But one crucial overlooked aspect of owning a smaller business. Frank Dinucci has been helping companies to get back on the right track when it comes to managing their books.

These owners are preoccupied with making their product or offering services needed in the community. Managing finances for a company is much different than personal checking. Dinucci is hoping to change and educate owners by raffling away a chance to attend one of his accounting classes cost-free.

"There's a lot more to accounting and maintaining your company's finances than just credit and debit," says Dinucci. "Managing your books is a comprehensive and sophisticated system that with prior knowledge can be used to gain insight and helps make the company determine correct decisions."

Accounting Overlooked Aspect Of Business

Statistics and reports released by Forbes in 2013 show that there are over 28 million small businesses in the country. 22 million are self-employed across the nation. These companies result in over 120 million people working in the small business sector; this accounts for over 50-percent of the total working population.

Many of these companies have a firm idea of their business plan and how to be successful but are green when it comes to keeping their accounting.

Frank Dinucci, a former Ivy League accounting professor, is preparing to launch a raffle throughout the city of Chicago to help benefit one lucky business.

The company would be students in one of Dinucci's accounting classes, learning everything from the basics to more advanced methods. The raffle is still in the planning phase, but Dinucci hopes to have them finalized early next year.

"Raising money was an easy thought because those funds can go towards a local charity," explains Dinucci. "The winning company can then benefit from free courses to help run their business."

Dinucci Has Experience Helping Businesses With Cloud-Based Accounting

He has been traveling city to city across the country to educate about the benefits and ways of error-free accounting. Dinucci also teaches about the advantages of modern cloud-based accounting software, which is a primary course in his class.

When it comes to cloud-based accounting, these small businesses have shown to save a lot in overhead costs. The company also gains significant freedom which helps them increase the maximum potential for their business.

Additionally, cloud-based accounting software is a fraction of the cost of obtaining a real accountant. And can be used to create accounts and keep documents automatically. The obstacle is not many managers are aware of the advantages of cloud-based accounting. Dinucci tries to emphasize these points during his seminars.

The situation heightens by the fact that these entrepreneurs typically run in an extremely competitive market with thin margins. This point means they cannot allow employing an individual or team of accountants to handle the accounting side of their business.

"Errors happen almost all the time for first-time business owners," adds Dinucci. "There is a narrow line between a mistake that you can correct instantly and the mistake that can close your company down."

This is where Dinucci's expertise comes in. Companies have relied on his courses to help their businesses.

Raffle Plans Finalized Soon, Dinucci Hopes

Dinucci plans to have the raffle set for a date shortly. He anticipates a high participation from local businesses. Almost any company in the area could benefit from his courses.

"I want to gather money for a great cause, but also help a company in need of assistance," says Dinucci. "No better way than a raffle."

When finalized plans take place, Dinucci will set the participating businesses and the charity that will receive the money.
