It was more like an elevator pitch to convince each and every one of them to be in my project. I was able to convince more than 680 + strangers later become part of my life journey as a photographer. This year he was able to match last year’s numbers. As he started at 10 pm on 16th of March 2019 and stood still till 10 pm on the 17th of March 2019 talking and convincing over 3000+ strangers and getting about 650+ portraits.

He fell in love with the big apple with the amount of diversity which hangout in times square and wanted to have a diverse portrait of strangers from a different part of the country and the world. He felt it was a great experiment last year talking to people and getting rejected a greater number of times than being accepted. He felt it was a great test of patience, Persistence, Physical and mental health. Which makes good practice of talking to a variety of people and getting them in front of his camera. With very little breaks from 10 mins to warm up and 15 mins for 2 quick meals. This year it was very different from last year as it was the day of the St Marks day parade that had a lot of greens which was missing this year. As he was still happy as a south Asian stranger trying to approach people from the rest of the world. He spoke to over 3000 people in 24 hours and achieving almost 1 image every 2 mins. He says “A lot of People think times square has so many people It easy, in reality, its hard convincing strangers to be on pictures shot by a stranger”. He is excited that he was able to do this for the second time this year and plans to do this every year. He feels a great satisfaction by passing the test of Endurance Patience and perseverance for the second time.

The East Coast premiere of this 2018 documentary film will be screened during the Ninth Queens World Film Festival (QWFF).

There are still plenty of cinematic offerings that can be seen at the Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) and Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens, New York. QWFF winds down to its wrap date on March 31. The independent films include short narratives, features, animation and documentaries that are presented in thematic blocks. QWFF Executive Director Katha Cato said the festival experienced “an incredibly strong opening weekend hosting filmmakers and audiences from all over the world.” The festival is continuing with second Spirit of Queens honoree evening “featuring the stunning restoration of a black-and-white indie film treasure.”

One of the newly-restored films is In the Soup (1992) featuring Steve Buscemi, Seymour Cassel, Jennifer Beals, Jim Jarmusch, Carol Kane and Stanley Tucci. The film tells the story of a neurotic nebbish whose fantasy is to win his dream girl by producing and starring in a hit movie. In the Soup may be seen Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m. at MoMI’s Redstone Theater.

Following the screening, In the Soup director Alexandre Rockwell will be interviewed by QWFF Spirit of Queens honoree David Schwartz. Mr. Schwartz is the former longtime chief curate for MoMI. During his tenure, he screened over 10,000 films at the museum and interviewed many leading producers, actors/actresses and filmmakers.

Quiet Storm: The Ron Artest Story (2018) was produced and directed Johnny Sweet, who was an Emmy award-winning ESPN feature producer for 10 years. The documentary follows Ron Artest from his adolescent years in the Queensbridge Houses to his recruitment in 1997 by hometown St. John’s University.

As a freshman, Artest was named to the Big East’s All-Rookie and All-Tournament teams and the Red Storm advanced to the NCAA tourney. Turning pro, Artest was drafted by the Chicago Bulls and played for four different NBA teams, ultimately helping the L.A. Lakers to the championship in 2010.

But the elation of victory came with a heavy price off the hardwood. Artest talked openly about his struggles with anxiety and depression – a subject long considered taboo among professional athletes. In 2011, Artest changed his name to Metta World Peace “to inspire and bring youth together all around the world.”

Quiet Storm will be screened Saturday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in MoMI’s Redstone Theater.

RENO, NV, UNITED STATES, March 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A spectacular lithograph on paper signed by the important Native American artist Tommy Wayne (“T.C.”) Cannon (1946-1978), titled Waiting for the Bus, Andarko Princess, sold for $12,500 at a five-day Wigwam Auction – a celebration of the country’s Great Basin Native American heritage – held March 7th-11th by Holabird Western Americana Collections in Reno.

The auction was conducted in Holabird’s gallery located at 3555 Airway Drive (Suite #308) in Reno, as well as online via iCollector.com and Invaluable.com. Headlining the event was the Moe and Mary Royels Great Basin Wigwam Collection. The items in the Royels’ collections reflect the rich history the state of Nevada enjoys in the unique place known as the Great Basin.

The Wigwam Collection is a fantastic array of Native American collectibles, art and artifacts. A number of items (mainly dresses) were made especially for Mary Royels, plus a few for Moe, by local Paiute friends. The collections included baby baskets, beaded baskets, art depicting early man in the Great Basin by William Moore, stone artifacts, moccasins and stone projectile points.

The T.C. Cannon litho, from 1978, was the auction’s top lot. Depicting a woman seated on a bench waiting for a bus, it was signed, numbered (#24/125) and embossed by the artist. The print was housed in a double mat frame, 37 inches by 30 inches. Another litho of the same work is on display at the Smithsonian Institute. Cannon, from Oklahoma, was a member of the Kiowa Tribe.

Day 1, on Thursday, March 7th, featured rare vintage bottles (165 lots); saloon items (9 lots); cowboy collectibles (34 lots); firearms and weaponry (26 lots); gaming collectibles (10 lots); and numismatic items, to include books, checks, coins, dies, ephemera, medals, “so-called” dollars, tokens and more. Over 500 lots – a full auction by itself – crossed the auction block on Day 1.

Day 2, March 8th, was packed with 550 lots of Americana, to include advertising, art, books and directories, calendars, Gold Rush, postal history, militaria, political lots, Wells Fargo & Express, silverware, flatware, non-mining stock certificates, toys and World’s Fair. A group of ten orange Republic of China 6% two-year secured gold loan treasury notes from 1919 gaveled for $6,562.

Day 3, March 9th, contained Part 1 of the Native Americana, to include artwork, apparel, gloves, moccasins, accessories, jewelry, trade beads, artifacts, pipes, dies and baby baskets. Also sold that day were 52 lots of artwork (including the T.C. Cannon litho), for a grand total of 604 lots.

Day 3 included an outstanding vintage Navajo Squash Blossom necklace boasting 16 beautiful turquoise nuggets from the #8 mine in Eureka county, Nevada ($2,500); and a high-quality serigraph by Franz Scholder, titled Indian with a Gun, #49/80, artist signed and 22 inches by 33 inches ($1,875). Scholder’s artwork is distinctive, colorful and very popular among collectors.

Day 4, on Sunday, March 10th, featured Part 2 of the Native Americana, to include pottery, baskets, dolls, books, photographs, postcards, rugs and weavings, ephemera and collectibles. Also offered were transportation (244 lots) and railroadiana (184 lots) – 301 total lots in all.

Day 4 featured a large, historical and possibly ancient cooking basket, 15 inches in diameter, not ceremonial, used for everyday cooking, found in northwest Nevada 50 years ago, never buried ($3,125); and a hand-woven Navajo rug with a tribal design, 39 ½ inches by 44 inches, made by America’s Natives from the Russell Foutz Indian Room in Farmington, New Mexico ($2,875).

A collection of 40 red Imperial Chinese government railway 100-pound bonds, issued in 1911 by the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corp. in London, hammered for $2,625. Also, an unissued, unsigned and uncancelled first mortgage 10% gold loan in the amount of $500 for the Gilpin County (Colo.) Tram Railway Co., with all ten coupons, printed circa 1871-1873, made $1,625.

A large, circa 1900-1910 Mono basket, 19 ½ inches tall, intended for utility or cooking but never used and probably made for sale to the Anglo market, displaying zig-zag patterns and classic Paiute four bi-symmetric starts, achieved $2,625; and a historic and possibly ancient flat cooking basket, 25 inches in diameter, possibly from Steamboat or McDermott (N.D.) realized $1,875.

A large, circa 1900 winnowing basket, 28 ½ inches long by 21 ½ inches wide, with open basket twining, utilitarian (but never utilized), a pine nut harvest relic from the Great Basin, finished at $1,750. Also, a camp-size, vintage Washoe water pack basket “Tus” in a sacred red ochre color, 20 inches tall, 12 inches diameter, with close twined willow and hemp handles, reached $2,000.

Day 5, on Monday, March 11th, will be dedicated to minerals (13 lots) and mining collectibles (578 lots). The mining portion will contain artifacts and assay, books, explosives, maps, mine lighting, signs, spoons, mining stocks, ephemera and collectibles – a dream day for collectors.

Top lots from Day 5 included a lavish hardcover prospectus ad accompanying map for the Keystone Silver Mining Company in Reese River, Nevada, from 1865, in pristine condition ($2,000); and an 1884 stock certificate for the Harmony Borax Mining Company (Death Valley, Calif.), early #23 for 18 shares, issued to a Mr. William T. Coleman, with signatures ($2,500).

(TSX-V: ADD) (F: 82A1) (US Listing: ASDZF) is a Canadian-based diamond exploration mining company focused on advancing its flagship 100%-owned Timantti Property in Finland, located 17 km from the town of Kuusamo, and only ~450 km SE of the multi-billion dollar producing Lomonsov and Grib diamond mines in Russia. 'Timantti' is the Finnish word for diamond, and Arctic Star is now in the center of what could continue into a Tier 1 discovery. The large land package consists of a 243 hectare Exploration Permit and a 190,000 hectares Exploration Reservation. The caliber of the exploration professionals that are associating themselves and reputations to the project is impressive, they include the former lead geologists that discovered Diavik diamond mine in Canada, and the discovered nearby Grib diamond mine in Russia.

In 2018 Arctic Star proved-up a cluster of 4 newly discovered diamond bearing kimberlites ripe with microdiamonds; following caustic fusion processing 1,746 diamonds were found in 987.06kg of samples from four kimberlites, and curve analysis yields +1.18mm stones in each kimberlite. Three of the kimberlites, known as 'the three wolves', are within 300 metres of each other, they were found under only 1 to 3 metres of overburden, only a few hundred metres off the highway, and adjacent to power. Analysis of the distribution of microdiamonds from caustic fusion of samples from Arctic Star's best grading kimberlite structure, named the White Wolf, yielded ~0.7 carats/T (+/- ~20%) commercial stones, an earmark of if not a future mine on its own, certainly part of a future mine. The Company's 2019 exploration plan is to prove the Timantti Project has world-class size potential by confirming more kimberlites; the exploration team will be testing several near-surface anomalous targets that are so apparently indicative it is difficult to think what else the anomalies could be other than more kimberlite bodies/pipes.

Exceptional infrastructure: Arctic Star is able to explore for diamonds at Timantti for ~1/3 the cost of what most others spend in elsewhere due to the projects location proximal to exceptional infrastructure (roads, airport, town, power). There are regular flights from Helsinki to the local town of Kuusamo (population ~16,000); its possible to take a taxi from the airport to Arctic Star's first kimberlite discovery in ~20 minutes. Additionally noteworthy, in 2018 two of the kimberlites were discovered simply by excavating anomalies with a backhoe.
 
ADD.V poised for upside revaluation: Currently trading with a miniscule market cap of only ~C$10.2 million, the share price of Arctic Star Exploration Corp. is apt to rise near-term to better reflect the inherent value of its recently discovered diamantiferous kimberlite clusters at the Timantti Property and its potential. The missing ingredient that is holding the share price of ADD.V back is the streets need to see size/tonnage potential, something the Company's geological exploration team is confident it can deliver this 2019. The markets are tougher on diamond exploration stocks now than in the past due in-part to the fact there has not been a new world-class diamond discovery made since 1990. If this was the 1990s and Arctic Star had done what it has done lately at Timantti, the share price of ADD.V would likely be over $3/share already. Purchasers of ADD.V now are getting a deal on shares. Kimberlite structures are rare — the discoveries to date have mitigated the project risk, with weak hands now out of the stock, and the geological team dialed-in, it won't take much in terms of news flow to attract majors, serious money, and street attention that will jump the share price of ADD.V as the 2019 exploration season advances.
