RAY BROOK, NY – The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The meeting will be held at the Agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook, NY. The public is welcome to attend in person or remotely.

Public comment will be available to members of the public who attend the Agency meeting in person as well as those who participate remotely. If you would like the opportunity to make a public comment remotely, please email your name and the phone number used to call into the Board Meeting to: AgencyMeeting.PublicComment@apa.ny.gov.

Those who sign up for public comment will be limited to three minutes each. Public comment will not be accepted on any agenda items that are before the Board.

Please note that the Agency is transitioning the software used to livestream Agency meetings from a Zoom webinar to a Streamyard livestream. As part of this change, the remote public comment process has been updated slightly. Individuals who wish to comment remotely will be emailed a guest access link with instructions for joining and providing comment during the meeting. The deadline to request a remote public comment is Wednesday, August 12 by 5:00 p.m.

On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., the Full Agency will convene for Executive Director Barbara Rice’s monthly report, public comment, and other procedural actions.

At 10:00 a.m., the Park Policy and Planning Committee will hear an informational presentation from Charles Cochran from the Department of Environmental Conservation on the finalization of the 30x30 open space conservation strategies and methodology to enable New York State to reach its goal of conserving 30% of its lands and waters by the year 2030. DEC staff will provide an overview of the recently released strategies and methodology developed by DEC and the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, which can be accessed here: www.dec.ny.gov/nature/open-space/30x30. The final document reflects extensive collaboration with State agencies, local governments, Tribal Nations, landowners, conservation organizations, and community stakeholders.

Following the 30x30 presentation, Kramar Kwaczala of DEC will give an overview of the State's Conservation Easement Program and its role in advancing the 30x30 goal.

At 1:00 p.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene to hear an overview presentation from APA staff about the proposed project P2026-0048. The project involves a permit and variance request for the construction of a dock involving wetlands to provide public ADA-accessible canoe and kayak access to Lake Flower in the Village of Saranac Lake, Essex County.

APA staff will then give a presentation for the proposed project P2026-0108, involving the proposed regenerative timber harvest of 680 acres accessed by Mink Brook Road in the Town of Colton, St. Lawrence County. At 3:00 p.m., the Full Agency will convene to take any necessary actions.
