Justice for Jessica: Sheriff Reflects on Guilty Verdict in Domestic Violence Murder
In the early morning hours back on April 12, 2026, Deputies Matthew Kraeger and Logan Catone responded to a welfare check call at an apartment complex in Kingsbury. Not getting any response and after interviewing neighbors, the Deputies decided to enter the locked apartment.
Inside they found Jessica Keenan on the floor and immediately began life saving efforts. Eventually, Deputies were able to locate Ronald Guilder Jr. who had locked himself in another room. Members of our Investigation Division were summoned to the scene and worked throughout the day investigating Jessica's brutal death. With the assistance of the NYSP BCI and Forensic units, the case led to the arrest of Ronald Guilder Jr for her murder.
A stellar prosecution team presented the case and yesterday the Jury found him guilty after a 7 day trial. I can't tell you how proud I am of the job done by Deputies Kraeger and Catone, our entire Patrol and Investigation Divisions, and how grateful I am to the State Police and District Attorneys Office for their work on this difficult case.
