Kevin Durant and Degree Team Up to Support Kids in the Game

Thanks to the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation and Degree, Kids in the Game will launch two new programs to help kids stay involved in sports post COVID-19.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, USA, June 29, 2020 / — The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation and Degree have teamed up to donate $1 million to 10 youth development organizations across the country. The funds are to support the organization's ability to continue providing activities to keep kids active, moving and involved in positive sport programs. Kids in the Game’s non-profit arm, The Kids in the Game Foundation, was a selected recipient of a portion of the funds, along with 2 other New York City based organizations.

“The generosity of The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation and Degree has been the bright spot for Kids in the Game over the past few months. As a New York City rooted organization, we have seen firsthand how this pandemic has directly impacted our kids and our families. Our focus over the past few months has been on our path forward, returning to the gym, field, and court so our kids can continue to develop through sport. This support not only makes that possible, but will allow us to come back stronger than ever.” -Tatum Boehnke, Director of Community and Impact, Kids in the Game

Low income families and neighborhoods have been hit the hardest by COVID-19 and the financial strain caused by the global pandemic is likely to continue well beyond the return to ‘normalcy’. The Kids in the Game Foundation has had a robust scholarship program for the past 4 years providing over $200,000 worth of financial aid to families needing program cost assistance. With the additional funding now available from the Durant/Degree donation, The Kids in the Game Foundation will be expanding their scholarship program offerings with two new initiatives.

The first will be the launch of “The Real MVP Fund” which will focus on providing assistance to single mothers and their families in New York City. Kids in the Game does not believe that a single parent should have to choose between providing basic necessities for their children and providing opportunities for sport and enrichment activities. This fund will eliminate that choice by providing funds to support their child’s participation in after-school, sport and summer programs. Additional resources such as nutrition and financial literacy will also be made available to “The Real MVP Fund” awardees.

The second program that will be launched is “The Kids in the Game Foundation Continued Education Award” fund. For the past 3 years The Foundation has offered academic and life skill support to their competitive basketball program, KING Hoops. By providing these services, Kids in the Game recognizes that support should not stop when high school ends. The post high school education scholarship fund will be established to support graduating student-athletes that have participated in any Kids in the Game program throughout their elementary or secondary educations. The award will support college, vocational, and/or trade school further education opportunities.

The Kids in the Game Foundation plans to launch these two programs later this summer to provide immediate positive impact to our families deeply affected by both COVID-19 and systemic injustices that are long overdue from being addressed.

About Kids in the Game

Kids in the Game, a certified B Corporation, runs programs in dozens of communities around New York City for over 20,000 kids. This includes programs such as after-school, esports, competitive sports teams, and summer camps. Our goal is to help the next generation of leaders develop healthy habits and an active lifestyle, while promoting personal growth through safe environments, play, and competition. The Kids in the Game Foundation was established in 2017 as a 501(c)3 in order to bridge the opportunity gap in affordable program offerings in New York City.

Lisa Ramotar Warns That Company Evaluations May Be Unbalanced During Covid-19

Lisa Ramotar Guyana

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, June 29, 2020 / — Lisa Ramotar is a business professional who has watched the spread of Covid-19 with much concern. Worried about what the pandemic is doing not only to her family and friends but also society in general, she is confident that business study and valuation processes are trending too high. Read on to find out why Lisa Ramotar fears that companies are being valued much too high in the current troubled market.

Why Lisa Ramotar is Concerned With Company Valuation Accuracy

Over the years, Lisa Ramotar has become an expert in finance and specifically in equity valuation, and she is worried that Covid-19 is creating a strange market position that may affect many company's value. This concept may seem obvious, Lisa Ramotar says, but it is one that not enough people are taking seriously.

For example, she highlights the current state of the stock market as proof that a lot of over-evaluation is taking place. Simply put, she finds it hard to believe that companies are worth as much as they are reporting and that stocks aren't being inflated. Lisa Ramotar highlights the concepts of "greed" and "fear" as the two motivating factors on the market – and right now, greed is high again.

As a result, Lisa Ramotar notices a lot of questionable stock purchases that don't seem congruent with reality. The market is struggling, she says, despite having recovered surprisingly well over the last few weeks. Lisa Ramotar is also concerned that companies are not taking the impact of the virus seriously enough and that they may be basing too much of their valuations on past expectations.

How Companies are Valued | Lisa Ramotar

The business valuation process is a complex one, Lisa Ramotar says, but is typically balanced on several factors. One way a company can be valued is to calculate the value of all the tangible and intangible assets (e.g.: patents) it has on its balance sheet and taking away from that the liabilities owed. However, these factors are far from the only way to evaluate the value of a company, she warns excited investors. Other and more common methods are to evaluate a business as an ongoing concern and value its future cash flow stream.

Simply put, Lisa Ramotar says that future success factors are critical to the value of a company. And this valuation, she says, if not done correctly could be a miss more than a hit. It may seem obvious that a company that is succeeding will continue to do so. And much of the market, Lisa Ramotar says, is based around the idea that such success is either constant or nearly permanent.

However, the closing of businesses, the slowing of customer visits, and other market issues have not been adequately evaluated, she says. Too many people are behaving as if the pandemic will end tomorrow, Lisa Ramotar says, and believing that past success and estimations will continue in the future. Sadly, she doesn't think that this factor is nearly as real as most would like to believe.

Nicholas Gerace Discusses the Benefits of Homeschooling

Nicholas Gerace highlighted some of the vital skills and life lessons that are more achievable through homeschooling.

LATHAM, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 29, 2020 / — Impassioned about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Nicholas Gerace coaches this discipline to beginners, children, and teenagers, while also working as an AFAA personal trainer, bodybuilding coach, and master life coach. As a firm believer in holistic health, he is an outspoken advocate of the connection between physical and spiritual energy.

Nicholas has reviewed a handful of the valuable talking points that are common in homeschooling, yet consistently neglected in typical schooling systems. All of these lessons inspire mindfulness and are critical to a child's future.

Implementing gardening into a homeschooling curriculum is incredibly helpful for a child's maturation and awareness, Nicholas Gerace says. Children are taught the responsibility of nurturing a plant, ensuring that it receives sufficient water and loads of sunshine. Gardening also stresses the importance of patience, as plants require time to grow into that picturesque finish that we initially conjure up in our minds. A child who engages in gardening discovers an abundance of health benefits, resulting from the fresh air, sunshine, and healthy eating habits. With regular time spent outdoors, children begin to understand the environmental issues plaguing our planet and it allows them to form a connection with the natural world.

Yoga sessions give children the opportunity to experience breathing exercises, stretching, and relaxation in a home setting, Nicholas Gerace states. These routines are largely beneficial, both psychologically and physiologically, as children are encouraged to focus on thematic concepts, such as peace, respect, gratitude, and healthy living. Through visual imagery and relaxation, children are empowered to quiet the mind and body. Additionally, yoga concentrates on activities that form relationships by practicing compassion, respect, and support with others. It is a wonderful foundation to establish for children because, as they grow up, they are capable of expanding on these ideas, creating a deeper awareness.

Mental Health

Most schools fail to integrate mental health into the curriculum, Nicholas Gerace confirms, but homeschooling can be a highly effective source of mental health education. After learning about the topic of depression, children may use mindfulness and meditation when feelings of sadness are encountered. By beginning these lessons at an early age, it eliminates the notion that mental illness is an unspeakable subject and instead sparks their motivation to comprehend its potential impact on an individual. Being compassionate and understanding, children become better equipped to express genuine empathy to those who suffer from mental health problems.

Schooling systems have a reputation for overlooking the creative side of a child, that special attribute which can produce magical thoughts. Although subjects like math and science might not seem to be the most ideal of creative outlets, truthfully, an astute teacher can stimulate children to think outside of the box in any circumstances. Unfortunately, the educational institutions and their guidelines often prevent these teachers from this process; however, homeschooling fosters a creative atmosphere throughout the day. Although academia is extremely vital, far too frequently, it falls substantially short of fostering and promoting creativity.

Teaching children to understand themselves to a greater extent, you allow them to discover their tendencies and adapt to various scenarios. Rather than forcing a child to learn in a specific manner, which the majority of educational institutions are guilty of, homeschooling modifies the approach to suit each student. Simply explaining why and how a child learns differently from the customary manner can produce a positive, helpful outcome. People who are increasingly self-aware tend to have a higher level of psychological health and a more favorable outlook on life.

Final Thoughts from Nicholas Gerace

Lastly, homeschooling teaches children the significance of resilience: the ability to respond and recover from problematic challenges. Life is filled with uncertainties and setbacks, but children can be better prepared for these experiences if they learn the power of resilience at a young age, says Nicholas Gerace. Protecting children from mistakes and the responsibility of responding constructively, you only hinder their growth. Whether it is unforeseen circumstances or a glaring error on the child's part, they need to realize how they can overcome these moments, particularly because it will make the next obstacle easier to overpower.

Dr. David Samadi’s message to men: Healthy food choices promote urological health in treating sexual dysfunction and BPH

Healthy food choices to promote Urologic health in men with sexual dysfunction and Enlarged Prostate

Healthy food choices to promote Urologic health in men with sexual dysfunction and Enlarged Prostate”

— Dr. David Samadi

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 29, 2020 / — A key component helping men lead a healthy lifestyle is healthy food choices. When combined with regular physical activity, a man’s diet is a main driver of not only reaching and maintaining a healthy body weight but also for reducing risk of chronic diseases including urologic diseases.

“It’s very clear cut, what a man eats makes a huge difference in his urological health,” exclaimed Dr. David Samadi, Director of Men’s Health and Urologic Oncology at St. Francis Hospital at Roslyn, New York. “I’ve always supported good nutrition as a cornerstone of promoting good health. It only makes sense. Men who feed their body too many highly processed foods and not enough nutritious whole foods, are only harming their future health. And this includes the health of their prostate and sexual health.”

There is significant evidence-based research establishing the link between healthy food choices impacting a man’s urological health, especially for conditions such as prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and erectile dysfunction. These conditions affect a large proportion of men at some time in their life. Physicians advising male patients to follow a prudent dietary approach such as the Mediterranean diet, this style of eating may help control certain urological symptoms while also enhancing overall health.

A common urological situation of men is prostatitis, a painful condition in which the prostate becomes inflamed, swollen, and tender. Men often experience painful urination, low back pain, and pain on ejaculation.
“In the United States, a little over eight percent of men will develop prostatitis,” explained Dr. Samadi. “Men with chronic, reoccurring prostatitis will benefit by avoiding certain foods increasing symptoms. Foods to avoid include spices, hot peppers, alcohol, wheat, and gluten. I also advice them to drink plenty of water flushing out bacteria associated with this condition along with drinking herbal or caffeine-free tea each day for controlling prostatitis.” Studies have found supplementation with zinc helps relieve symptoms of chronic prostatitis. Zinc has anti-bacterial and immunomodulatory functions and is an important compound of seminal fluid contributed by the prostate gland.
“Lean red meat, bean, lentils, and nut like almonds are excellent sources of zinc,” said Dr. Samadi. “Men can also take a zinc supplement as a simple and safe method of obtaining this mineral.”

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
BPH is a common problem affecting the quality of life in approximately one third of men older than 50 years with the incidence increasing to 60% among men in their 60s. Symptoms can include urinary frequency, nocturia, and reduced urine stream.
“While there are treatments for BPH alleviating symptoms, dietary changes may also help improve this problem,” stated Dr. Samadi. “I tell men with BPH to start eating more of a plant-based, Mediterranean diet by including more beans, lentils, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Studies validate this recommendation and it’s what I do too.”

Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
“Erectile dysfunction can occur at any age but is more common in older men,” explained Dr. Samadi. “Older men are more likely to have health conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular which can interfere with ED. Additionally, as men age, they may need more stimulation to get an erection and more time between erections.”
“Men will be wise to follow a heart healthy diet since ED is strongly associated with cardiovascular disease,” said Dr. Samadi.
Men choosing a dietary pattern of the Mediterranean diet including more nuts, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, have been shown to have a reduced incidence of ED and to be more sexually active than men who consume more highly processed, sugary and fatty foods.

Dr. Samadi added, “I also advise men to cut back on sodium which can aggravate hypertension and atherosclerosis. Excess salt not only narrows arteries leading to the heart but also to the penis. A man’s ability to get an erection relies on good blood flow to the penis. This means to eliminate high sodium foods such as sausage, hot dogs, smoked meats, and chips. A vigorous sex life starts with eating healthy foods. It’s as simple as that.”

Dr. David Samadi is the Director of Men’s Health and Urologic Oncology at St. Francis Hospital in Long Island. He’s a renowned and highly successful board certified Urologic Oncologist Expert and Robotic Surgeon in New York City, regarded as one of the leading prostate surgeons in the U.S., with a vast expertise in prostate cancer treatment and Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy. Sarai Korpacz – New Single “Hiding Place”

The popular contemporary gospel artist will be releasing her new single, ‘Hiding Place’ early next month.

Hiding Place will share a story, a feeling and an emotion of the renewed awakening one can have with the Christian faith. I’ve always made my faith my top priority, my music is a reflection of that”

— Sarai Korpacz, Christian Music Singer-Song Writer

NEW YORK, NY, US, June 29, 2020 / — The New York-based Christian singer and songwriter, Sarai Korpacz will soon release a new gospel single on her birthday on the 4th of July. This comes only one year after she released her debut album, It’s Time To Praise The Lord in July 2019. Korpacz has now become a voice of hope, and an inspiration for people during times of adversity.

The artist currently lives with her husband and their two children in New York. Her latest single will be a melodic enchantment of hope and finding strength in the Lord during challenging times. After her injury in 2018, the artist found hope in gospel music thus bringing her closer in her relationship with God. “Everything happens for a reason, how we react can determine our destiny” shares Korpacz.

The talented gospel artist found inspiration in Christian music, giving her the strength to push through challenging times. Two years later, and pain-free, she has been sharing her musical talents with thousands of listeners around the world through various social media platforms. Her positive music brings a clear message, worshipping God in spirit and truth.

Her strong and passionate relationship with God was already well-established when Korpacz was only six-years-old. Today, a dual citizen of Nigeria and the U.S. with a Masters in American Business Law from New York Law School, she has shifted her focus from the corporate world to give people inspiration and hope.

“Hiding Place will share a story, a feeling and an emotion of the renewed awakening one can have with the Christian faith. In my years, I’ve always made my faith my top priority, my music is a reflection of that, but incorporated in a way for everyone to enjoy it,” tells the artist.

A snippet of ‘Hiding Place’ which can be found on her website is a delightful connection between the listener and God. Korpacz uses her talents to not only tell people but show them that during challenging times, one can always find hope in God. As the global pandemic has left millions with uncertainty, stories such as that of Korpacz will show many that there is a way forward during dismal times.

Korpacz is a true embodiment of gospel talent, her soft melodies, cheerful music, and upbeat enthusiasm can easily fill the room with positive energy. American gospel music has always been a popular genre for millions of listeners, and in recent times, the genre has seen an up-rise in younger and more dynamic talent. Until now, there has been a long list of extremely talented singers and songwriters who’ve laid the foundation for the contemporary music scene in America.

“Whatever it may be that happens in your life, everything has an explanation. The Lord has a plan for everything in our lives. The injury in 2018 made it possible for me to realize that without faith and guidance any challenge in my life will become tiresome. I’ve instilled trust, and hope in everything I do into the Lord, and my music is only a small portion of what I want to share with the world,” she concludes.

Artists such as Israel Houghton, Marvin Sapp, Yolanda Adams, and world-famous singer Mahalia Jackson paved a road with years of success but making it possible for any person to build a deeper connection with their faith through music. Korpacz is a talented spirit that plays on the backdrop of years’ worth of compassion and conviction, entrusting her faith to become the leading force in her family’s life.

Her album, It’s Time To Praise The Lord is currently available on her website, or can be downloaded from CD Baby and their partner sites which include Apple music, Spotify, Tik Tok and Google Music Stores. Be sure to take a listen to Hiding Place, as it releases this July on Apple iTunes, Spotify, and YouTube.
